Monzo card sticker: put your own photo on your Monzo card

Monzo cards are easy to spot, but the colour comes with your plan: Hot Coral on Free and Extra, Blue Coral on Perks and Burnt Coral on Max. If you would rather see your own photo every time you tap, a sticker is a simple way to do it: a thin matte vinyl skin printed with your photo, with the chip window cut out, that you apply to the front yourself. Which Monzo cards suit a sticker?

Our stickers fit every standard-size credit and debit card, flat or embossed. Here is how the Monzo cards compare.

Monzo has described its Hot Coral card with the long number on the front, and its earlier cards with the numbers embossed as raised letters. If your card has the number on the front, the sticker will cover it. You can always reveal your card number, PIN and CVC in the Monzo app.

Still using a Monzo metal card?

Monzo's metal card came with Premium and was made from a 16g sheet of steel. Monzo has since moved away from metal, but customers who switch to Extra, Perks or Max can keep their metal or holographic card until it expires. We cannot make a general promise for metal cards, so please check your card before you order, and ask us if you are unsure. Be careful here in particular: Monzo's Premium fee information says it charges GBP 50 each time a metal card is replaced.

Lining up the chip window on your Monzo card

In Monzo's own card images, the cards are horizontal, with the chip on the left side of the front, the Monzo wordmark top right and the Mastercard logo bottom right. Hold your card that way and plan your photo as a wide picture. Keep faces and important details on the right half, because the area over the chip is cut out. The sticker covers the wordmark and logo on the front.

When you apply it, turn the sticker so the chip window sits over the chip, then line up the edges before you press it down.

Applying it and using your card

1. Clean and peelWipe the front of the card clean and dry, then peel the sticker off its backing.
2. Line up and pressPlace the chip window over the chip and press from the middle out. See a bubble? Lift that corner and lay it down again.

Is it allowed on a Monzo card?

We know of no Visa or Mastercard rule against cardholders putting stickers on their own cards, and Monzo's current account terms, as we read them, do not mention stickers. Many banks' terms say the card remains the bank's property, which is why a removable sticker that leaves the card unchanged is the sensible way to personalise it.
